The Big Riding School Test
We are really very pleased and extremely proud that our private Lipizzaner stud and the hotel's own riding school again performed very well in the Pferdplus Big Riding School Test.
Here is the detailed assessment:
Our testers truly loved the riding school at the Hotel Stanglwirt in Going (Tyrol), which is set against the fantastic backdrop of the Wilder Kaiser mountain.
The famous stables at the five-star hotel have their own Lipizzaner stud and give the impression, above all, of being tidy and well-maintained. Thanks to the nearby B178, they can also be easily reached by public transport. A real visual highlight is the riding arena, which can be seen from the hotel entrance hall through the huge panoramic windows. In light of the extremely high-quality riding instruction, which is available for children and adults at all levels of ability, the somewhat high prices are acceptable. You need to sign up for riding lessons well in advance, as the demand is huge. The riding school horses are very well trained and extremely hard-working. Even the ponies are highly trained. All the animals are able to spend a lot of time in the enclosures and paddocks within the stable complex. At the time of the testers' visit, part of the stables was being renovated to create new, larger horseboxes and an outdoor riding area. The testers were also charmed by the friendly support and commitment of the experienced riding instructors.
The Pferdplus riding school testers were completely bowled over by the location, the instruction and the obviously happy horses – hence their sensational overall mark of VERY GOOD!

What we liked and didn't like at the Stanglwirt riding school:
Plus
- Attractive opportunities to observe lessons as a spectator
- Committed and competent instructors
- Beautiful riding arena with well-maintained floor
- Large amount of knowledge conveyed during riding lessons
Minus
- No last-minute booking possible
- Building work impaired our assessment at the time of the test
- Outdoor riding area cannot be used during high season
Verdict on the Stanglwirt riding school:
"We very much welcome this assessment and thank you for the excellent mark. Thank you very much also for pointing out to us the lack of information notices which we will display as soon as possible. I would like to point out again that we will soon be enlarging our horseboxes. We have already made contact with a number of manufacturers and will be building more suitable accommodation for the horses as soon as possible. Thank you once again for the very positive assessment, which both motivates and pleases us! Best wishes from Going by the Wilder Kaiser - The Stanglwirt riding school team"
Improved again
In autumn 2012, the strict Pferdplus testers visited the Stanglwirt riding school again. It was not a poor assessment (after all, the riding school was given an excellent mark), but curiosity which took us back to Going - because the Stanglwirt team had promised in their statement (see above) that they would soon be building more appropriate horseboxes. We wanted to see for ourselves whether this promise had been kept in the meantime. It had - and how! A few weeks ago we saw for ourselves how ambitious the prestigious business had proved to be in its refurbishment: spacious horseboxes, fresh paint on the walls of the beautiful vaulted stables, an invitingly wide corridor down the middle and everything so clean that you would have quite liked to be a horse here yourself!
